Overview

The Rigger / Laborer position in Greenville Yard involves planning, laying out, and installing rigging components for lifting and installing various equipment in accordance with industry standards. The role also includes general laborer and painter duties, requiring local commuting and previous shipyard experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and rig large-scale heavy equipment.
  • Position, align, or level machines, equipment, and structures.
  • Shakeout items for installation and rig them for crane hoisting using crane signals.
  • Guide rigged items into position using a tag line.
  • Use oxyacetylene and welding equipment for adjustments or alterations during installation.

Requirements

  • May require a high school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field or a related area.
  • Must possess working knowledge and skills in rigging, shipyard labor, and painting.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
  • Must meet all physical requirements and have previous shipyard experience.
  • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required.
