Overview

For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Assistant Shop Foreman will be the backup for the Shop Foreman and is responsible for maintaining safe and efficient fabrication and paint shop operations.

Responsibilities

• Plan details of work order procedures and gather required tools and materials.
• Repair and fabricate various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques.
• Monitor the welding, burning, and fitting process to prevent overheating or damage.
• Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces.
• Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
• Operate lifting and transporting equipment.
• Assist with Quality Control related tasks.
• Provide backup for the Shop Foreman when needed.
• Provide training for employees.
• Manage, communicate, and document personnel issues.
• Ensure company standards and policies are followed.
• Provide leadership and direction to employees.
• Ensure product quality and availability.
• Organize employee schedules.
• Ensure health, safety, and security rules are followed.
• Motivate employees and ensure a focus on the mission.
• Maintain production and a visual plan.
• Complete tasks assigned accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in production welding supervision is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work autonomously when required.
• Experience operating a forklift, heavy equipment, and overhead cranes.
• Knowledge of fabrication processes and techniques.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and materials.
• Proven experience in getting work done through others safely and efficiently.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as ASME Code, safety rules, and blueprints.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Utilize an ERP system and basic computer skills in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
