Overview

This internship program is designed for students pursuing an associate or technical welding degree, allowing them to gain practical experience in welding repairs and fabrication on mining equipment at a surface lignite coal mine.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding repairs and fabrication on mining equipment.
• Read and understand blueprints to assemble and fabricate parts.
• Locate and repair cracks in metal parts and structural members.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a welding technology program and in good academic standing.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Strong work ethic with effective communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment and individually.
• Working knowledge of all phases of welding and cutting of metals.
• Ability to read blueprints and knowledge of rigging procedures.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts.

Additional Information

• Work will be performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Employees may be exposed to chemicals, dust, noise, and welding fumes.
• Must be able to work while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
