Overview

The Maintenance Shop Technician B position involves performing repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks under supervision. The role offers the opportunity to work on advanced vehicles and contribute to community service through the company's environmental initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a working knowledge of vehicle components and systems.
  • Perform preventative and repair maintenance functions on-site and on the road.
  • Repair and maintain chassis components and refuse bodies.
  • Conduct light engine repair and maintenance.
  • Work on suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems.
  • Handle heating and air conditioning maintenance.
  • Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication.
  • Provide road service to ensure equipment is operational.
  • Identify malfunctions using electronic tools.
  • Complete applicable Company training programs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and demonstrate technical expertise.
  • Basic understanding of work order labor time standards.
  • Prior experience with maintenance work on Classes 1-5 and Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
  • Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a technician position or graduating from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
