For over 100 years, BlueScope has built a reputation for quality brands and products, leading technology, and a customer-first spirit. The Welder 2 operates independently to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits using blueprints and layout specifications.
  • Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications and determine structural soundness.
  • Review engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences.
  • Work on complex level tasks, including special projects and job site repairs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
  • Layout material and set up for automated devices or robotic welding.
  • Provide training and mentoring to new Welders.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, or ACT WorkKeys Assessment at certified job profile skill level.
  • 3+ years of welding related experience.
  • AWS D.1.1 Welder Certification preferred.
  • 1-year certificate from a technical school preferred.
  • 5+ years of welding related experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass AWS D.1.1 Welder certification test.
  • Ability to use measuring devices for inspections.
  • Understanding of blueprints and drawings.
