Overview

HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a MECH TECH P 3 (WELDER) to perform welding processes on aluminum and steel parts and assemblies. The company is the largest industrial employer in Virginia and specializes in building and refueling U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding processes on aluminum and steel parts and assemblies to required tolerances.
  • Determine layouts and weld parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Apprentice graduate/Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 3 years of related experience.
  • May require certification.
