Montgomery County Intermediate Unit

Overview

A vacancy exists for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to work at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in the Office of Facilities and Operations. The technician performs maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and makes general repairs to buildings utilizing carpentry skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Make general repairs to buildings and contents.
• Maintain all building components and plumbing equipment.
• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot plumbing equipment.
• Evaluate and produce specifications and parts lists for tasks and projects.
• Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Inspect buildings and equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Perform rough and finish carpentry work.
• Assemble furniture and install various facility components.
• Assist custodial and maintenance workers as required.
• Respond to emergency situations and ensure building safety.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workspace and job sites.
• Comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Keep records of work completed and report issues to supervisors.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 4-6 years of experience in trades and maintenance.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License required.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
• Ability to work in a team environment and effectively with people.
• Ability to work under stress and with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to schedule time to meet deadlines and communicate effectively.
• Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.

• Location: 2 W. Lafayette St. Norristown, PA 19401.
• Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7 hours/day, 12 months (260-262 days/year).
