Overview

Kiewit Power Engineering Group is seeking a Senior Structural Designer with a strong understanding of design modeling and Building Information Modeling (BIM). The role involves collaboration with engineers and mentoring less experienced team members to contribute to project success.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design group members to review and exchange project information.
• Check design for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance requirements.
• Report task progress to the Lead Designer.
• Gather information and collaborate with engineers to develop BIM models.
• Leverage BIM to create plans, drawings, and details.
• Assist in developing department standards and tools.
• Mentor team members in design and modeling techniques.
• Resolve design issues with input from responsible engineers.

Requirements

• Completion of a vocational training program in Computer Aided Design.
• 9+ years of structural design experience using Tekla.
• Ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents.
• Leadership skills to monitor peers with less drafting and design experience.
• Basic knowledge of the latest computer operating systems.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs.

Additional Information

• Position can be based in Lenexa, KS; Houston, TX; Raleigh, NC; or Phoenix/Tempe, AZ.
• For roles in Chattanooga, TN; Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid/in-office arrangement.
