Overview
Porex is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of advanced porous solutions, committed to making the world safer, healthier, and more productive. The company is seeking a Millwright/Fabricator to bridge maintenance and production operations by designing custom tooling and machinery modifications to improve equipment reliability and safety.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and mechanically integrate custom-built automated machinery and production systems.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install mechanical components to ensure machines operate reliably.
- Work closely with engineering and project teams to deliver high-quality automation solutions.
- Assemble custom-built machinery according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Fabricate and install machine frames, panels, guards, and structural assemblies.
- Install mechanical subassemblies including bearings, conveyors, gears, and drive components.
- Follow proper mechanical practices to ensure alignment and smooth operation of moving parts.
- Assist with mechanical integration of pneumatic and servo-driven systems.
- Ensure mechanical assemblies meet design tolerances and quality standards.
- Participate in mechanical inspections, functional testing, and verification prior to commissioning.
- Provide on-site support for assembly, installation, and maintenance as required.
- Work closely with engineering, project, and service teams to clarify mechanical requirements.
- Participate in internal and customer design reviews and installation meetings as needed.
- Support project timelines by collaborating with other trades to ensure timely completion of mechanical assemblies.
Requirements
- Associates degree, trade school, vocational program, or equivalent technical experience relevant to this role.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical assembly of machinery or industrial equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and mechanical schematics.
- Experience with mechanical fasteners, bearings, conveyors, gears, and related components.
- Strong use of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical assembly equipment.
- Understanding of general manufacturing safety standards and mechanical best practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed to support installations or project deadlines.
- Experience in Mig welding and fabrication of metal frames using blueprints.
- Familiar with Lathe and Mill.
Additional Information
- Work schedule is A shift (7:30am-3:30pm, M-F).
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional, and sometimes overtime and extended hours are required.
