Overview

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Marine Structural Engineer to assist in growing our Waterfront Improvement practice, based in various U.S. offices. The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of experience developing complex coastal engineering solutions and will provide engineering and client support on complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise for structural design and engineering of marine infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct structural analysis, modeling, and design of marine and waterfront structures.
  • Support project teams with technical input during all project phases.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative and sustainable solutions.
  • Assist in preparing technical proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules.
  • Lead and review structural calculations, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers.
  • Stay updated on advancements in marine engineering practices.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to present design concepts and project updates.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to project or office sites as needed.
  • Overnight travel: 30 - 50%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, marine engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license required.
  • Structural Engineering (SE) license preferred.
  • At least 10 years of direct engineering experience in marine structural engineering.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, such as SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or LARSA.
  • Strong understanding of materials used in marine environments.
  • Experience in wave, current, and load modeling as applied to marine structures.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Business development acumen preferred.
  • Regular field work and overnight travel required.
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training preferred.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record required.
