Overview

Metro’s mission is to provide a world-class transportation system that enhances the quality of life for all who live, work, and play within LA County. The BODY REPAIRER A (NON-REVENUE) position involves repairing damage to non-revenue Metro vehicles under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs damaged bodies and body parts of revenue buses using various hand and power tools.
  • Examines damage to vehicles and estimates cost of repairs.
  • Straightens body panels, bent frames, and supporting structures damaged in accidents.
  • Removes damaged parts, including panels and floors, using wrenches and cutting tools.
  • Bolts, rivets, and welds replacement parts in position.
  • Files, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces, including bondo patches.
  • Removes upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic systems, window and seat assemblies to access damaged body structure.
  • Adjusts headlights, aligns frames and suspensions after body repair.
  • Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out.

Requirements

  • Two years of journey-level experience performing repair of heavy vehicle or automotive bodies and related parts and structures AND completion of a 2-year program from an accredited school in auto/truck body repair OR four years of journey-level experience.
  • Experience repairing buses and related parts and structures is desirable.
  • Valid California Class C driver's license.

Additional Information

  • Written exams are projected for the week of September 21, 2026.
  • Interviews are projected for the week of September 28, 2026.
  • Performance exams are projected for the week of October 05, 2026.
  • Positions in this classification are considered safety sensitive under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations.
