Overview

Transco Rail Services, part of Marmon Holdings and backed by Berkshire Hathaway, is seeking an Experienced Railcar Repair Technician who will perform railcar inspections and repairs while traveling nationwide. The company is committed to safety, compliance, quality, and reliable service across a broad North American network.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct railcar inspections to ensure compliance with FRA, AAR, and customer requirements.
  • Perform necessary repairs while adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Execute mechanical repairs on railroad freight cars, including tank and hopper cars.
  • Occasionally perform welding repairs as needed.
  • Coordinate and complete repairs efficiently within assigned hours.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and report potential hazards.
  • Notify supervision of materials and equipment needed for job tasks.
  • Interact positively with team members and supervision.
  • Ensure accurate and complete invoicing, inspection, and work order information.
  • Participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections.
  • Follow all safety rules and practices.
  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have railcar or tank car repair experience.
  • Preferably 2 years of tank car experience.
  • Ability to safely operate machinery, including large work vehicles and forklifts.
  • Dependable and reliable for scheduled work shifts, including overtime.
  • Ability to learn basic railcar knowledge.
  • Proficiency with basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Ability to pass DOT requirements is a plus.
  • Ability to perform confined space entry and create hot work permits.
  • Ability to pass required NDT disciplines and function-specific certifications.
  • Must be legal to work in the United States without sponsorship.
