Overview
The Certified Welder position in Savannah, GA involves performing basic welding and steel fabrication tasks to support the production of structural steel components for construction projects. The role requires reading shop drawings and adhering to specified tolerances and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and use prints and sketches for structural steel fabrication.
- Perform general material handling functions, including jobsite clean-up and moving materials by hand.
- Operate motorized equipment such as welding machines, air arcing tools, and overhead cranes.
- Follow company safety rules and properly use assigned personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- Certified Welder specializing in field operations with proven ability to complete structural and equipment welding.
- Knowledge and ability to interpret and use prints and sketches for welding techniques.
- Pass AWS Welding Test on a one-inch groove test in the horizontal position.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds of material.
- Ability to frequently walk, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb.
- Experience with heavy flux core wire feed welding.
- TWIC card preferred but not required; ability to obtain one is required.
