Job Description

Overview

The Auto Body Repair Tech will assist body repair technicians with collision repairs, ensuring high standards of quality assurance inspections and revisions prior to the paint application process.

Responsibilities

  • Familiar with Chief Frame machine.
  • Able to use Chief Lazer Measuring machine.
  • Able to weld aluminum and steel body parts.
  • Dismantle vehicle within the suggested time constraints in a safe manner.
  • Assist verifying vehicle collision damages, body, frame, and mechanical repairs.
  • Remove, label, and tag parts to be placed into storage for later repairs.
  • Create inventory and list repair parts.
  • Clean and inspect vehicles for any flaws or imperfections prior to painting.
  • Assist with preparing and filling depressions with body-filler and ensure a quality repair.
  • Carefully and accurately mask any areas that are not meant to be painted.
  • Use hammers/dollies to fix minor metalwork.
  • File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
  • Replace bolts on panels and align properly.
  • Partner and provide clear communication with other team members and departments involved in the vehicle reconditioning process.
  • Track and handle hazardous waste according to regulations and company policy.
  • Follow proper operating rules, procedures, and standardized workflow.
  • Wear and use required safety equipment (respirator, eye, and skin protectors).
  • Maintain a clean and productive work environment by keeping tools and supplies organized.
  • Work in a busy office/service center environment and subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
  • Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards.
  • Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • May be required to cover vacation time at other locations and some extended weekend hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
