Overview
The Auto Body Repair Tech will assist body repair technicians with collision repairs, ensuring high standards of quality assurance inspections and revisions prior to the paint application process.
Responsibilities
- Familiar with Chief Frame machine.
- Able to use Chief Lazer Measuring machine.
- Able to weld aluminum and steel body parts.
- Dismantle vehicle within the suggested time constraints in a safe manner.
- Assist verifying vehicle collision damages, body, frame, and mechanical repairs.
- Remove, label, and tag parts to be placed into storage for later repairs.
- Create inventory and list repair parts.
- Clean and inspect vehicles for any flaws or imperfections prior to painting.
- Assist with preparing and filling depressions with body-filler and ensure a quality repair.
- Carefully and accurately mask any areas that are not meant to be painted.
- Use hammers/dollies to fix minor metalwork.
- File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
- Replace bolts on panels and align properly.
- Partner and provide clear communication with other team members and departments involved in the vehicle reconditioning process.
- Track and handle hazardous waste according to regulations and company policy.
- Follow proper operating rules, procedures, and standardized workflow.
- Wear and use required safety equipment (respirator, eye, and skin protectors).
- Maintain a clean and productive work environment by keeping tools and supplies organized.
- Work in a busy office/service center environment and subject to frequent interruptions.
- Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
- Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards.
- Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- May be required to cover vacation time at other locations and some extended weekend hours.
