Overview
The Master Mechanic position involves performing a variety of mechanical tasks on equipment such as heat exchangers, towers, drums, heaters, and valves. The role requires advanced knowledge and skills in mechanical repairs and installations, with a focus on safety and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble and repair heat exchangers, including bundle pulling and tube rolling.
- Perform internal repairs and maintenance on towers and drums.
- Assist in blinding, bolting up, and testing pipe systems.
- Conduct repairs and replacements on heaters and boilers.
- Use grinding, hammering, or flame cutting equipment for structural parts.
- Replace valves as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in mechanical repairs and installations.
- Ability to plan work activities ahead of work pace.
- Advanced knowledge of tray removal and installation.
- Advanced knowledge of heater tube removal and installation.
- Advanced knowledge of boiler installation including steam and mud drums.
- Ability to roll, cut, and extract exchanger tubes.
- Advanced layout skills.
- Sound rigging skills.
- NCCER certified Boilermaker preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of reading and working with P&ID’s.
Additional Information
- Must comply with safety and quality control procedures.
- Willingness to assist other crafts when directed.
- Work environment requires SCBA and special protective PPE.
- Extended work hours may be required.
- Must be physically able to carry up to 50 lbs.
