Overview

Granite Construction is a leading construction company that values its employees as its most important asset. The Laborer position involves supporting concrete crews at various construction sites while providing opportunities for personal and professional growth through on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

  • Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.
  • Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms.
  • Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
  • Levels earth to fine grade specifications using pick and shovel.
  • Mixes concrete using a portable mixer.
  • Smooths and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete using float, trowel, or screed.
  • Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections.
  • Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, such as sawing lumber, dismantling forms, and removing projects from concrete.

Requirements

  • Must have construction experience, heavy construction preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience required.
  • Ability to follow specific directions.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties which may often change.
  • Ability to work within standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure.
  • Ability to evaluate information using measurable standards.
  • Ability to work safely by choice.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
