Overview

The Container Shop Lead Tech position at Republic Services involves troubleshooting, designing, installing, and repairing compactors and power units with limited supervision. The role requires advanced knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, and includes coaching other technicians while ensuring compliance with safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain advanced knowledge of all types of compactors, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Make customer site visits to ensure customer satisfaction with repairs and assist the Sales team in presales activities.
  • Coach technicians to identify malfunctions and determine the best course of action for repairs.
  • Weld steel components using MIG and ARC welding equipment.
  • Cut steel using a plasma cutter or torch.
  • Fabricate steel components for compactors.
  • Perform on-site repairs at customer locations.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete required paperwork.
  • Install company and safety decals on all compactors.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Refer complex repairs to the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency with welding, hydraulics, or electronics.
  • Advanced knowledge of MIG and stick welders, plasma cutter, and airless paint sprayers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow directions with minimal supervisory involvement.
  • Minimum of 1 year welding experience.
