Overview

Rio Tinto is a global mining and materials company seeking an Electrician & Instrumentation Technician for its Wilmington, California plant. The role involves providing construction, installation, repair, and maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operating efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic troubleshooting in electrical control, distribution, and motor protection.
  • Install and commission switchgear, control devices, transformers, electrical feeders, motors, and process instrumentation.
  • Use test equipment to diagnose high, medium, and low voltage electrical circuits.
  • Install programmable logic controllers (PLC), distributed control systems (DCS), and human machine interface (HMI) devices.
  • Repair and calibrate pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic instruments.

Requirements

  • Commitment to safety for oneself and the team.
  • Qualified Electrician & Instrumentation Technician with 6+ years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical and electronic theory, Ohm's Law, and Kirchhoff’s Law.
  • Proficient in power factor, voltage drop, and National Electric Code application.
  • Familiarity with instrument operation in a loop and Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Skilled in test and calibration equipment, personal computers, and medium to high voltage circuits.
  • Ability to interpret and apply schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, and process flow drawings.
  • Experience with GE Limit Amp Starters, GE/Siemens vacuum circuit breakers, and ABB Gas circuit breakers.
