Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain various types of forklifts including electric, gas powered and propane powered.
  • Test forklift trucks to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all material moving equipment including sit down fork, stand up fork, dock picker, pallet jacks and sanitation equipment.
  • Diagnose problems related to motors, drive brakes, electronic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Tear down, repair and reassemble equipment.
  • Inspect, remove, and replace defective components and/or parts.
  • Perform preventative maintenance programs on equipment.
  • Identify and correct minor problems before they develop into a breakdown.
  • Use appropriate power and hand tools.
  • Keep accurate records of preventative maintenance and all other work performed.
  • Keep accurate records of parts used for inventory control and order with approvals, as required.
  • Communicate with supervisor/manager daily regarding changes or problems with equipment.
  • Clean work area/warehouse equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required by management.

Requirements

  • Must have own hand tools required for applicable areas (complete journeyman toolbox).
  • Three to five years trade school or equivalent material handling equipment maintenance experience.
  • Must have electrical knowledge of AC/DC controls.
  • Must have knowledge of hydraulics.
  • Must have knowledge of welding and power tools.
  • Must be able to inspect, repair and operate scissor lifts.
