Overview

At Alstom, the Production Operator - Welder is responsible for executing various production tasks within a factory setting, focusing on welding and assembly while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform arc welding on stainless steel using MIG/MAG.
  • Conduct pre-welding assembly and tack welding.
  • Carry out visual inspection of welds and quality assurance.
  • Guide junior welders and maintain robotic equipment.
  • Provide technical welding expertise.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Set up weld equipment inspection.
  • Perform all assembly tasks and other manufacturing requirements as instructed.
  • Prepare and maintain production areas and equipment.
  • Execute manufacturing tasks as scheduled by the MRP system.
  • Perform operations in alignment with work instructions.
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the production process.
  • Identify parts.
  • Report any deviations or quality concerns to the Team Lead.
  • Pack finished vehicles and/or parts for shipment.
  • Complete tally sheets when required.
  • Adhere to 5S, ESD, and EHS regulations.
  • Perform self-inspections.
  • Maintain special process qualifications as required.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of weld testing.
  • Special process certification required for torquing, crimping, and riveting.
  • Two years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong commitment to quality, effective teamwork, and clear communication.
  • Proficiency in the local language for daily operations.
  • Arc welding certification from SENAI or an equivalent body.
  • Knowledge of MIG, STICK, and TIG welding methods.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
