Overview

As Superintendent - Piping, you'll lead field operations for piping systems fabrication and installation on commercial mechanical projects, overseeing crews to deliver precise, code-compliant, high-quality piping for HVAC, plumbing, and process applications. Responsibilities

  • Supervise fabrication, welding, assembly, and installation of piping systems per blueprints, specs, and codes.
  • Manage shop and field crews, including scheduling, material staging, and tool/equipment readiness.
  • Enforce strict safety protocols, conduct daily hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and ensure PPE compliance.
  • Coordinate with other trades, subcontractors, and project managers for sequencing and conflict resolution.
  • Perform quality inspections, pressure testing, and documentation for handover and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot fabrication/installation issues, optimize workflows, and minimize waste.
  • Mentor pipefitters, welders, and fabricators on best practices and safety.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in piping fabrication/installation for commercial mechanical projects.
  • 3+ years supervisory experience.
  • High school diploma or GED; trade certifications preferred.
  • Field/shop-based physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in confined spaces.
  • Experience with piping fabrication/welding techniques, blueprint reading, and pressure testing.
  • Team leadership, scheduling, quality control skills.
  • Safety management and material coordination skills.
