Overview

CSUN strives to be a destination workplace that fosters an environment of success for both students and employees, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Mason will perform journey-level masonry tasks, supporting maintenance, construction, and renovation projects across campus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform journey-level masonry tasks including concrete, plaster, stucco, block, brick, tile, and stone work.
  • Build forms, grade, and shoot elevations using a transit or builder's level.
  • Mix, pour, and finish concrete, and perform labor to break out old concrete.
  • Install concrete masonry blocks and bricks, and saw concrete and tarmac.
  • Erect, maintain, and repair forms and related temporary structures.
  • Operate cement mixers and other masonry-related tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Any combination of progressively responsible training and experience demonstrating achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to a standard mason's apprenticeship program.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of masonry methods, materials, tools, equipment, and safety practices.
  • Ability to build and repair forms, establish grades and elevations, and interpret rough sketches and plans.
  • Working knowledge of carpentry methods and construction support practices related to masonry.
  • Knowledge of demolition techniques and materials handling practices.

Additional Information

  • Full Time; 40 hours per week; 7:00am – 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
  • May include evenings and weekends.
  • Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
  • Position located on-campus in Northridge.
  • Background check required.
  • Not a telecommute position.
