Overview

The 1st/2nd Class Mechanic (Welder) position involves assembling and welding various tank parts and components. The role requires reading blueprints, performing high-quality welds, and material handling, with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand blueprints and sketches (1st Class only).
  • Perform 100% penetration x-ray quality welds (1st Class only).
  • Layout work required for the fabrication of tank parts and components (1st Class only).
  • Material handling using overhead cranes, trucks, or forklift (1st or 2nd Class).
  • Burning of parts and components (1st or 2nd Class).
  • Fit-up and welding tasks of all tank part components (1st Class only).
  • General housekeeping (1st or 2nd Class).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current driver’s license with clear motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, sketches, and safety rules.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical operations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
