Job Description

Overview

The Fabrication Fitter/Welder is responsible for completing assigned welding tasks as part of a team to produce customer fabrication orders accurately and on schedule, while maintaining high productivity and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Perform welding on components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Operate safety equipment and adhere to safe work habits.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies before welding.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure them to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Weld using various materials and prepare surfaces by cleaning and removing contaminants.
  • Select and install torches, tips, filler rods, and flux according to specifications.
  • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent issues.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan welding operations.
  • Mark or tag materials with job numbers and other identifiers.
  • Detect faulty equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
  • Clean or degrease parts as needed and repair products.
  • Fabricate products to match production specifications.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of industrial fabrication welding experience.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and job specifications.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with welding tools and equipment.
  • High School diploma or GED required; vocational school or related experience preferred.
  • Careful attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
  • Reliable and responsible with a strong commitment to fulfilling obligations.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing work conditions and tasks.
  • Capable of working independently and managing tasks effectively.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility.
  • Demonstrated reliable work history.
