Overview

The Welder - Level 1 position involves laying out, fitting, torch cutting, and welding various metal components to assemble structures like machinery frames and tanks. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and quality standards while utilizing different welding processes.

Responsibilities

  • Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts using various welding equipment.
  • Assembles parts by bolting and riveting.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
  • Repairs dies by grinding, scarfing, and welding techniques.
  • Maintains and makes minor repairs to welding and other shop equipment.
  • Assists Senior Welders.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in welding or equivalent from a technical school.
  • Four to six years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in different forms.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read drawings and perform welding.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Forklift & Aerial Lift Equipment certification.
  • Safety training in Fire Safety, LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection.
