Overview

The HVAC Mechanic at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is responsible for maintaining critical heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and building systems to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff. This full-time position requires technical expertise and a commitment to delivering exceptional service in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
  • Respond to scheduled maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, air compressors, and valves.
  • Assist electricians with troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Repair plumbing fixtures and related building systems.
  • Install and repair doors, locks, windows, and perform general carpentry.
  • Inspect and maintain non-clinical hospital equipment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering leadership and fellow mechanics.
  • Deliver timely building services that support patients and staff.
  • Remain flexible to respond to routine and emergency service calls.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Appropriate certifications or licenses related to the HVAC trade.
  • Valid New Jersey Driver License.
  • Preferred: previous experience in healthcare or service-focused environments.
