Overview

Sulzer is a leading engineering company focused on innovation, seeking a Senior Industrial Motor & Generator Mechanic to join their global team. This hands-on technical leader will work on heavy-industrial motors, generators, pumps, gearboxes, and related equipment across various industrial markets.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform and guide complex teardown, inspection, repair, reassembly, and testing support for industrial motors and related equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electromechanical failures using inspection results and equipment condition.
  • Inspect bearings, journals, fits, shafts, housings, and related assemblies.
  • Determine repair requirements and communicate concerns affecting scope, quality, or safety.
  • Read and apply job cards, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Support root cause analysis and repair planning.
  • Coordinate repair work with shop trades and engineering support.
  • Perform balancing, vibration analysis, alignment, and final inspection activities.
  • Mentor developing mechanics and promote safe work practices.
  • Maintain accurate inspection notes and repair documentation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Significant hands-on experience repairing industrial machinery and rotating equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and reassemble complex mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and document findings.
  • Ability to communicate repair findings clearly across departments.
  • Ability to safely perform physical work in an industrial shop or field environment.
