Job Description

Overview

BAE Systems is seeking various skill levels of welders to support their Submarine program at the Jacksonville Maritime Solutions shipyard. The roles involve fabrication and welding tasks essential for submarine manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Weld newly installed structural members and plating.
  • Weld re-installed temporary access openings.
  • Weld on a wide variety of materials using various weld processes.
  • Weld structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW.
  • Participate in continuous training in traditional and new welding processes.
  • Use pneumatic tools such as grinders and burr tools.
  • Perform oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon/arc gouging.
  • Verify weld size using weld gauges.
  • Read and interpret weld symbols, technique sheets, and work packages.
  • Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • MIG Welding experience or training.
  • Structural welding experience.
  • Vocational, Technical, or Community College training or Apprentice programs.
  • Experience in the construction industry or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to interpret welding and shipyard procedures, structural drawings, and technical manuals.
