Job Description

Overview

BAE Systems is seeking to hire various skill levels of welders for their Jacksonville Maritime Solutions shipyard, supporting submarine manufacturing. The roles involve fabrication tasks, including welding structural members and access openings while adhering to safety and environmental policies.

Responsibilities

  • Weld newly installed structural members and plating.
  • Weld re-installed temporary access openings.
  • Weld on a variety of materials using multiple processes.
  • Weld structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW.
  • Participate in continuous training on welding processes.
  • Use pneumatic tools such as grinders and wire brushes.
  • Perform oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon/arc gouging.
  • Verify weld size using weld gauges.
  • Read and interpret weld symbols and technique sheets.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • MIG welding experience or training.
  • Structural welding experience.
  • Vocational, Technical, or Community College training or apprenticeship.
  • Experience in the construction or manufacturing industry.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to interpret welding procedures and structural drawings.
