Overview

The Welder is responsible for the installation of steel and polyethylene mains, fabrication of metering facilities, and related construction oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain BHE welder certification compliant with O&M procedures and non-destructive inspections.
  • Perform and inspect pipeline and structural welding for construction and maintenance of company facilities.
  • Install, relocate, replace, maintain, and repair gas lines.
  • Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance during excavation activities near pipeline facilities.
  • Complete required documentation, as-built drawings, and contractor oversight.
  • Act as company representative during construction activities and report progress to Operations Management.
  • Participate in quality emergency responder programs.
  • Represent the company during contacts with landowners, public officials, and local organizations.
  • Inspect/supervise construction and maintenance activities performed by third parties.
  • Train and oversee company and third-party personnel as required.
  • Perform governmental compliance activities with PHMSA, State Agencies, EPA, and USFS.
  • Perform mapping, record keeping, and data entry duties.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Participate in the development of O&M Procedures and project scopes.
  • Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Achieve and maintain all Operator Qualifications applicable to the job classification.
  • Be available for emergency response after regular business hours.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of welder operations or other relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of basic properties of metals and plastic pipeline materials is desired.
  • Experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems is desired.
  • Ability to operate plastic fusion equipment and tools for maintenance on plastic pipelines.
  • Ability to operate micrometers, calipers, and thickness testing equipment.
  • Ability to work from job-related blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
  • High regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
