Black Hills Energy is a purpose-driven utility company that serves over one million customers across the West and Midwest. The Welder position involves the installation of steel and polyethylene mains, fabrication of metering facilities, and oversight of related construction activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain BHE welder certification compliant with O&M procedures and non-destructive inspections.
• Perform and inspect pipeline and structural welding for construction and maintenance of company facilities.
• Install, relocate, replace, maintain, and repair gas lines.
• Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance during excavation activities near pipeline facilities.
• Complete inspection duties per company policies, including documentation and contractor oversight.
• Participate in quality emergency responder programs.
• Represent the company during contacts with landowners, public officials, and local organizations.
• Inspect and supervise construction and maintenance activities performed by third parties.
• Train and oversee company and third-party personnel as required.
• Perform governmental compliance activities with various agencies.
• Conduct mapping, record keeping, and data entry duties.
• Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
• Participate in the development of O&M Procedures and project scopes.
• Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping.
• Perform all work in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of welder operations or other relevant experience.
• Knowledge of basic properties of metals and plastic pipeline materials.
• Experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
• Ability to operate plastic fusion equipment and tools for maintenance on plastic pipelines.
• Ability to operate micrometers, calipers, and thickness testing equipment.
• Ability to work from job-related blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
• Strong personal safety awareness and regard for the safety of others.
• Ability to work with a team and follow work rules.
• Job planning and organization skills.
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Information

• Location: Fayetteville, Arkansas.
