Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic position at Ferrara involves maintaining production and facility equipment to meet plant production goals. This role requires working with mechanical and electrical components, performing troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Disassembles, inspects, reassembles, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces malfunctioning parts or equipment using test equipment and meters.
  • Cleans, lubricates and adjusts guides, flap tuckers, sealing jaws, sensors, and timing for process systems of packaging equipment.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance procedures as per schedule.
  • Installs change parts on production machinery to run different sizes, shapes, or products.
  • Reads blueprints, diagrams, programs, and machinery manuals to diagnose problems and learn proper equipment operation.
  • Installs new equipment.
  • Actively seeks to find problems in assignment area and corrects them with high supervision.
  • Communicates conditions of equipment by completing maintenance records and informing supervisors of significant problems.
  • Displays cooperation by working closely with production personnel.
  • Improves work-related skills by actively pursuing outside schooling or plant-provided programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3 years of prior experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic OR completion of a 2-year Technical Degree in a maintenance field and 1 year of prior experience.
  • Experience must include diagnostic troubleshooting, repairing and replacing defective parts, adjusting machinery, and modifying units.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Position requires the ability to work overtime and may require varying start times, end times, and weekends.
