Overview

The Turbomachinery Mechanic position involves disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and rebuilding critical turbomachinery equipment such as steam turbines and compressors. The role requires collaboration with a skilled team and emphasizes safety and adherence to specific instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and rebuild steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and reciprocating compressors.
  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings covering safety and work distribution.
  • Follow specific instructions and shop routers for repairs.
  • Use precision measurement tools to inspect components.
  • Record inspection findings and measurements using hand-held tablet devices.
  • Review bills of materials and manufacturing drawings for replacement parts.
  • Collaborate with repair engineers and project managers during repairs.
  • Document and photograph the assembly process according to OEM standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Medium sized toolbox on wheels, including basic hand tools.
  • Proven ability to interpret shop instructions and manufacturing drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks with limited supervision.
  • Dependable and able to communicate proactively about emergencies.
  • Minimum three years experience in industrial mechanical repairs.
  • Minimum three years experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Minimum three years experience in rigging with various equipment.
  • Background in repair of reciprocating compressors, centrifugal compressors, and/or steam turbines.
