Overview

The 1st shift Soldering Operator is responsible for assembling, soldering, inspecting, and completing electronic and mechanical components for flowmeters and related products. This role requires precision hand soldering in accordance with established criteria while ensuring high-quality production.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lay out work using routing sheets, bills of material, and drawings.
  • Perform precision hand soldering and rework on surface-mount and through-hole electronic components.
  • Prepare components, printed circuit boards, wires, and terminals for soldering.
  • Inspect solder joints and completed assemblies for workmanship and conformance with IPC-A-610 criteria.
  • Use soldering irons, hot-air equipment, microscopes, and hand tools safely and proficiently.
  • Accurately assemble subassemblies and completed flowmeters.
  • Complete required in-process checks and production records accurately.
  • Identify and communicate defects and process issues to the appropriate team member.
  • Handle electronic components in accordance with ESD controls.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain regular attendance and work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Follow all safety, quality, environmental, and company procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • At least one year of electronic assembly or hand soldering experience preferred.
  • Experience soldering surface-mount and through-hole components preferred.
  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 training or certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce consistent solder joints and recognize defects.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and assembly documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to use microscopes or magnification equipment for extended periods.
  • Basic math, reading, writing, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
