Overview

The Mechanical Journeyman supports mechanical service and retrofit work by performing sheet metal modifications and mechanical piping tasks. This role emphasizes safety, high-quality work, and adherence to job specifications in various environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment.
  • Remove and replace pipe gaskets and verify proper fit-up and sealing surfaces.
  • Complete chiller valve replacements including operational checks.
  • Install flanged pipe couplings and torque to specification.
  • Execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure safety.
  • Read and work from job documentation to complete tasks correctly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area while using PPE.
  • Communicate job status and material needs to the supervisor.
  • Use and maintain tools and equipment properly.
  • Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical service tasks.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC mechanical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of flanges, gaskets, valves, and mechanical connections.
  • Proper tool use including torque tools.
  • Jobsite safety practices and hazard awareness.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to travel to construction sites as needed.
