Overview

Nucor Warehouse Systems is seeking a Welder Operator in Los Angeles, CA. The company is North America's largest steel manufacturer, known for its innovative sustainability practices and vibrant culture that emphasizes safety, efficiency, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Weld low carbon steel with 16-7 gauges and 0.125”-0.500” wall thicknesses.
  • Perform routine maintenance of the MIG welder and related equipment.
  • Conduct welding repairs as needed.
  • Perform 360-degree welds.
  • Position and secure parts using hoists, cranes, and hand tools.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts for welding.
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials.
  • Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid defects.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure for conformance to specifications.
  • Complete all required paperwork at each station.
  • Participate in job rotation for cross-training and ergonomic issues.
  • Assist to relieve bottlenecks in manufacturing processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have MIG welding experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and work instructions.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and understand calibrations.
  • Must possess the ability to work with hand tools.
  • Must be able to work any shift, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • 1-2 years of welding experience preferred.
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
