Overview

The Corrosion Technician is responsible for gathering data related to pipeline corrosion control, performing maintenance, and ensuring the safe operation of pipelines and facilities involved in natural gas transportation. This role requires proactive engagement with pipeline operations and compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Gather annual pipe-to-soil survey data.
• Gather rectifier readings and troubleshoot rectifier units.
• Perform interference testing and design cathodic protection facilities.
• Mitigate threats through close contact with Pipeline Controllers and Technicians.
• Recognize and respond to abnormal conditions to minimize impact.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on pipelines and facilities.
• Support the pipeline integrity program.
• Perform periodic inspections and maintain records.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of the vehicle.
• Train and obtain DOT qualifications for pipeline tasks.
• Install and maintain cathodic protection systems.
• Conduct evaluations of pipelines for corrosion and coating condition.
• Perform tests and surveys for cathodic protection facilities.
• Prepare corrosion control recommendations and oversee mitigation measures.
• Design and implement long-term cathodic protection systems.
• Document work related to regulatory compliance.
• Prepare drawings and contractor scopes-of-work.
• Evaluate coatings for atmospheric corrosion control.
• Participate in regulatory inspections and inspect 3rd party activities.
• Mentor fellow employees as appropriate.
• Comply with safety and environmental regulations.
• Attend safety meetings and training.
• Execute maintenance activities related to pipelines.
• Troubleshoot problem areas and recommend corrective actions.
• Relieve Pipeline Technicians when needed.
• Maintain records of all work performed.
