Overview

At GE Appliances, a Haier company, the weld repair person will be responsible for the repair, touch-up, and upkeep of the welding cells, reporting to the Manufacturing Manager of Tank Fabrication. The role involves performing preventive maintenance tasks and projects assigned by the Manager in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Determine the appropriate MIG welding method based on requirements.
• Operate gas flow meters and use appropriate welding gas as per procedure.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications.
• Operate angle grinders and pencil grinders to prepare parts for repair.
• Align components and clamp tanks for welding.
• Weld components using MIG equipment in various positions.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces for defects.
• Use the right size filler and welding gas as per WPS.
• Maintain equipment in a safe condition and ensure good housekeeping.
• Provide support in the analysis and resolution of welding failures.
• Ensure welding equipment's calibration date is current.
• Perform electrical diagnosis and recommend or perform repairs as needed.
• Support projects to improve processes and address corrective actions.
• Identify quality issues and troubleshoot to resolution with the production team.
• Communicate properly in pre-shift and end-of-shift meetings.

Additional Information

• Physical demands include bending, stooping, twisting, lifting/carrying, and handling parts or materials weighing a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
• Usually work indoors; all areas may not be temperature controlled.
