Overview

Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a prominent manufacturing company in the Spartanburg, SC area, is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabrication Technician to join their team. This is a great opportunity for a skilled welder with experience in TIG welding, stainless steel, and custom fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Weld and fabricate machinery and machine components.
  • Use both MIG and TIG welding techniques, including thin-gauge stainless steel.
  • Read and understand blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Fit, tack, fabricate, and complete final welds.
  • Build custom machinery and equipment.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and angle finders.
  • Use hand and power tools, saws, and plasma cutters as needed.
  • Lay out weld processes and determine proper measurements, angles, and proportions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures.
  • Work overtime when needed to complete machine builds.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of welding/fabrication experience preferred.
  • Strong TIG welding experience.
  • Experience welding thin-gauge stainless steel.
  • MIG welding experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and build from drawings.
  • Previous custom fabrication or machine-building experience preferred.
  • Experience using precision measuring devices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Manufacturing, automation, packaging, food processing, or OEM experience is a plus.
  • Welding certification or technical training is a plus.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when needed.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
