Job Description

Overview

Cleveland Thermal has been providing steam heat and chilled water to downtown Cleveland since 1894. They are seeking individuals for a field role specializing in either welding/pipefitting or fleet maintenance, focusing on hands-on work in maintaining underground utility infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot underground steam and chilled water piping, manholes, and HVAC components.
  • Set up job sites and operate heavy equipment, blowers, pumps, air compressors, and jack hammers for excavation and utility repairs.
  • Perform general maintenance on construction equipment and company vehicles as needed.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs and promptly report leaks, damaged infrastructure, or safety concerns.
  • Provide the Energy Infrastructure Manager with daily reports, vehicle inspections, confined space entries, and manhole logs.
  • Step into the Energy Infrastructure Lead role when directed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude and some construction or field experience.
  • Preferred: 3+ years in underground utility construction or 3+ years maintaining vehicles/construction equipment.
  • Some experience or exposure in welding/pipefitting or fleet & equipment maintenance.
  • Comfortable operating construction equipment.
  • Familiarity with HVAC/mechanical systems.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Reliable and safety-conscious.
  • Team-oriented and comfortable taking direction.

Additional Information

  • This is a critical infrastructure role with a rotating schedule.
  • There may be times when you are asked to work outside regular hours, including call-outs, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Compensation for extra hours will be provided accordingly.
