Overview

The Structural Engineer III is responsible for the structural design of steel structures related to offshore oil and gas and process facilities, including platforms, skids, risers, and tanks. The role involves computer modeling and coordinating with Designers and Drafters to accomplish project tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptual, preliminary and detailed design for offshore oil and gas facilities.
  • Perform analysis of structural systems utilizing SACS, including in-place, loadout, transportation, installation, fatigue, and non-linear analysis.
  • Design structures and structural elements such as trunnions, mudmats, and pipe racks.
  • Prepare RFIs and CTRs.
  • Prepare reports as applicable.
  • Reference AISC, ASCE, API, AWS, and other industry standards.
  • Interface with Project Managers and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Research and implement differing design techniques.
  • Perform necessary field work for accurate design information.

Requirements

  • BS in Structural or Civil Engineering required.
  • P.E. designation preferred.
  • Five years’ experience in design of oil and gas facilities.
  • Knowledge of structural design codes including AISC, ACI, and ASCE.
  • Ability to utilize engineering software such as SACS and STAAD.
  • Ability to complete discipline-related duties independently.
  • Familiarity with total project systems including mechanical, structural, civil, and electrical components.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
