Overview

The Structural Drafter/Designer III position in Houston involves preparing 3D models and 2D drawings for complex offshore and onshore structural systems in the Oil & Gas industry. This full-time role requires collaboration with engineers and adherence to industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare 3D models and drawings for assigned projects from sketches or model output files.
  • Design technical details and specify dimensions and materials.
  • Design and draft skids/modules structural from concept through AFC.
  • Design and draft onshore/offshore structures from concept through AFC.
  • Design and draft multi-discipline supports details from concept through AFC.
  • Edit drawings and incorporate changes from provided markups or verbal instructions.
  • Assist engineers and designers in resolving design issues and interferences.
  • Interact with the design team to resolve drafting/design related issues.
  • Ensure all drawings adhere to client, industry, and company standards.
  • Maintain project files and follow company standards.
  • Inform project leads of any concerns relating to assignments.
  • Perform field work as required to obtain accurate information for project design.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Accredited drafting training or prior working experience.
  • Minimum of five years of structural drafting and design experience in Upstream and Downstream Oil & Gas facilities.
  • Onshore foundation design experience required.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Proficient with design software such as AutoCAD, Advance Steel, and Navisworks.
  • Knowledge of AISC, AWS, API RP 2A, and OSHA standards.
  • Familiarity with civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime and weekends as required.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff.

Additional Information

  • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment but may require occasional travel to off-site locations.
  • Field duties require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere.
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required.
