Overview

NorthStar Energy Services, a Quanta Services, Inc. company, is based in Channelview, TX and provides engineering, design, procurement, construction and support services to various industries. The Structural Engineer / Project Engineer role combines structural analysis and design with project leadership, supporting projects from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

  • Establish structural design criteria and perform engineering analyses, calculations, and code interpretations for energy facilities.
  • Perform engineering analyses and design activities for steel structures, concrete structures, and foundations.
  • Apply and interpret structural codes and standards, including ACI 318, ASCE 7, AISC, IBC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Review site-specific geotechnical reports for foundation design.
  • Serve as Project Engineer, responsible for scope, schedule, budget, and technical execution across disciplines.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary deliverables and act as the primary technical contact for clients.
  • Develop and maintain core project documentation including design basis documents and progress reports.
  • Support procurement through RFQs and technical bid evaluations.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of drawings and deliverables to ensure compliance with project objectives.
  • Respond to RFIs with technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct field assessments to support design decisions.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and startup.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Working proficiency with SAP, SAFE, L-Pile structural programs, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of ACI 318, ASCE 7, AISC, IBC, and OSHA codes and standards.
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or ability to obtain one.
  • Preferred: Experience with Plant 3D Structure and CADWorx, as well as construction or field experience.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with teams.
  • Strong analytical judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
