Overview

Fenagh Engineering & Testing is a leading provider of construction materials testing, special inspection, welding inspection, and quality assurance services. They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform inspections and quality assurance evaluations on various projects in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual welding inspections in accordance with project specifications, contract documents, and applicable codes.
  • Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, and fabrication practices.
  • Conduct inspections of structural steel fabrication and erection activities.
  • Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) records.
  • Monitor welding operations to ensure compliance with AWS, AISC, ASTM, and project-specific requirements.
  • Document inspection findings and prepare detailed inspection reports.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, engineers, fabricators, and owners regarding inspection results and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate weld discontinuities and recommend corrective measures.
  • Witness and document nondestructive testing (NDT) activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely submission of reports.
  • Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance related to welding quality control.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Requirements

  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of welding inspection experience in structural steel, construction, fabrication, or related industries.
  • Thorough knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel.
  • Thorough knowledge of AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code.
  • Thorough knowledge of AISC requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable ASTM standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of ICC Special Inspection requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and welding symbols.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and digital reporting software.
  • Valid California Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area and surrounding regions.
