Overview

Our client is an innovative aerospace organization developing advanced spacecraft for demanding missions. They are seeking a Spacecraft Mechanical Integration Engineer who can move comfortably between detailed mechanical design and hands-on spacecraft assembly, taking ownership of flight hardware and solving vehicle-level integration problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and release spacecraft structures, mechanical assemblies, and supporting hardware.
  • Assemble and integrate space-flight hardware using disciplined mechanical practices.
  • Develop assembly instructions, mechanical work plans, tooling, and ground support solutions.
  • Inspect incoming components and verify that mechanical hardware meets engineering requirements.
  • Own assigned hardware throughout the build lifecycle.
  • Partner with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Maintain accurate engineering and build documentation.
  • Apply cleanroom, ESD, aerospace workmanship, and spacecraft environmental requirements.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of core mechanical engineering experience within aerospace or a closely related technical field.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar engineering discipline.
  • Proven hands-on experience assembling and integrating space-flight hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience addressing spacecraft packaging and physical integration challenges.
  • Proficiency with mechanical CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, NX, or comparable tools.
  • Experience with hardware inspection, mechanical joints, fastener torque requirements, and material finishes.
  • Familiarity with NASA GEVS or comparable spacecraft environmental verification requirements.
  • Strong mechanical problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
