Job Description

Overview

A Staff Structural Designer will perform various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, report preparation, specifications, and preparation of proposal and construction documentation and structural plans as part of a project team. This position will work on a diverse portfolio of projects and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed construction drawings for steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Produce a full range of drawing production work, including problem analysis and design layout.
  • Execute designs on a variety of projects pertaining to industrial and manufacturing clients.
  • Perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling tasks using proper engineering standards.
  • Execute a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques.
  • Prepare structural calculations and interpret design codes and specifications.
  • Design structural elements and details.
  • Complete and review design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings and related information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in drafting technology or related field and 7 years of related experience required.
  • Or Associate Degree and 8 years of related experience required.
  • Or 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience required.
  • Advanced understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems.
  • Advanced knowledge in the theory and practices of structural discipline.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a multi-disciplinary project team environment.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
