Overview

Chicago Roof Deck and Garden is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer with a strong background in structural design and a minimum of 5 years dedicated to existing conditions assessments and evaluations of buildings and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will lead assessments, analysis, and rehabilitation of existing structures while contributing to new design projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural condition assessments of existing buildings and infrastructure.
  • Perform detailed structural analysis and load evaluations for existing structures.
  • Develop existing conditions reports and rehabilitation designs in compliance with building codes.
  • Conduct forensic investigations of structural distress and failures.
  • Prepare construction documents, calculations, drawings, and specifications for structural projects.
  • Collaborate with architects, owners, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Review and seal structural drawings and calculations as the Engineer of Record.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project team.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and client communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in structural engineering.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience with existing conditions assessments and forensic evaluations.
  • Strong proficiency in structural analysis software and design tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of building codes, standards, and material behavior.
  • Experience with site investigations and preparing detailed condition assessment reports.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and interface effectively with clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
