Overview

KSE is a mid-size construction management and engineering firm that has been providing transportation and public infrastructure construction services for over three and a half decades. They are seeking a Senior Structural Inspector to perform field inspections and ensure compliance with construction standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections of structural and bridge construction/rehabilitation work.
  • Inspect structural steel, concrete, reinforcing steel, welding, bolting, and related construction activities.
  • Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and approved materials.
  • Monitor contractor operations for compliance with NYCDOT requirements.
  • Document daily activities, quantities, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports and photographic documentation.
  • Coordinate with the Resident Engineer, Project Manager, contractors, and other inspectors.
  • Identify construction issues and communicate deficiencies to the project team.
  • Perform field measurements and verify completed work.
  • Work safely around active roadways, bridges, elevated structures, and construction equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of structural/bridge construction inspection experience.
  • Experience with bridge rehabilitation, structural steel, or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Knowledge of structural steel inspection, concrete inspection, welding, and high-strength bolting.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors and at heights.
  • Physical ability to perform field inspections.
  • The ability to perform inspections without undue fear of heights.
  • Able to use fall protection.
  • Climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, reaching above head.
  • Good sense of balance.
  • OSHA10 or OSHA30 preferred.
