Overview

WSP is seeking a Field Structural Inspector for Rail Projects in Brooklyn, NY, to support the Construction Management Team and help meet client objectives. The role involves ensuring compliance and providing technical guidance during construction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager / Client Management team as directed
  • Review shop drawings and provide engineering support during construction
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to support staff, contractors, and/or vendors
  • Check designs and drawings
  • Ensure overall contract compliance via daily inspections for all rail construction
  • Prepare daily inspection reports in accordance with the project's requirements
  • Monitor sub-contractor & supplier usage to ensure pre-approval before work starts
  • Assist contractors with coordination of activities on the construction site
  • Monitor workforce and performance against the work plan
  • Complete punchlists and track completion
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company funds and resources
  • Perform additional duties as deemed necessary

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 5 years of Railroad construction experience
  • Knowledge of typical Structural Steel Repairs and experience in reviewing shop drawings
  • ICC Bolting and Welding Certification
  • Ability to pass Safety Training
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials
  • Working knowledge of state and federal safety and environmental guidelines and regulations
  • Proficient in basic computer skills utilizing Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and scheduling applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license
