Overview

WSP is seeking an experienced Substation Structural Engineer for their Dallas, TX office, with consideration for Tampa, FL. The role involves providing technical assistance in structural engineering solutions for electrical substation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional structural engineering work supporting electrical substation projects.
  • Prepare structural calculations, design criteria, and calculation packages.
  • Develop construction specifications, cost estimates, and technical inputs for proposals.
  • Produce and/or review structural drawings and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional disciplines to support integrated substation design solutions.
  • Utilize structural analysis and finite element modeling tools.
  • Maintain quality control standards and perform QA/QC reviews of structural deliverables.
  • Support Project Managers and Project Engineers with reporting needs.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide support during the construction phase.
  • Assist with scoping and execution of small- to medium-sized tasks.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior team members.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in structural engineering.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE, etc.).
  • Experience with structural analysis and/or finite element modeling software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Moderate proficiency with technical writing and engineering software tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
